What This Treatment Is
Where Stress Is Held

What This Treatment Is

A gentle, focused session for the neck, shoulders, face and scalp. These are the areas where a stressful week settles: the clench in the jaw, the band across the temples, the shoulders that live an inch higher than they should.

The techniques stay light and calming; this is closer to unwinding than to deep tissue work. People book it for tension headaches, jaw and TMJ-related tightness, screen-heavy weeks, and the mental fatigue a full-body massage doesn't quite reach.

What This Treatment May Help With

Jaw Clenching and TMJ-Related Tightness

Tired Eyes and Temple Pressure

Neck and Shoulder Tension

Mental Fatigue from Screen Work

Trouble Switching Off

Focused and Unhurried

What the 45 Minutes Look Like

A shorter session, spent entirely where it counts.

  1. 1

    A Short Intake

Where the tension shows up for you: jaw, temples, base of the skull, shoulders. That decides where the time goes.
  2. 2

    Settling In

Face-up, supported and covered, with the room kept calm and quiet.
  3. 3

    The Work

Slow work through the neck and shoulders first, then the face and scalp. Pressure stays light, and you set it.
  4. 4

    Afterwards

People tend to leave noticeably softer through the shoulders and clearer in the head. Water and an easy evening help it last.

What the Treatment Costs

The 45-minute session is $115, before HST. All rates are on our pricing page.

As massage therapy from an RMT, many Ontario extended health plans cover it, and you'll get a receipt for your claim.

Who You See and Where

Our Approach to This Treatment

Care comes from a Registered Massage Therapist in a quiet, private room at 16 Bristol Ave in Dovercourt Village, in Toronto's west end. If your headaches or jaw tension are ongoing, this treatment can sit inside a wider plan; our headaches page covers how we work out what's feeding them.

Common Questions About This Treatment

Will it help my headaches?

If your headaches are the muscular, tension-type kind, easing the neck, scalp and jaw tension that feeds them may help. The assessment at your first visit sorts out which type you have.

Do you use oil on the scalp?

Only if you want it. Say so at the start, and if you have somewhere to be afterwards, the scalp work stays oil-free.

Is 45 minutes enough?

For this focused area, yes. If you want the whole body covered too, a 60 or 90-minute therapeutic massage is the better fit.

Is it covered by insurance?

Many Ontario extended health plans cover RMT massage therapy. Your receipt carries the details your insurer needs.
